Soil Testing
Why Soil Testing Matters in Star
Our soils in the Treasure Valley are commonly heavy in clay and naturally alkaline, which can limit how well turfgrass accesses key nutrients like iron, nitrogen, and other micronutrients. These conditions are one of the main reasons lawns can appear thin, dull, or yellow even when fertilizer has been applied correctly.
Soil testing is not just about correcting local soil conditions, it’s about understanding the complete picture of what your lawn needs. Nutrient levels, pH balance, and soil structure all work together to influence long-term turf health and performance.
Accurate soil testing is essential for making the right lawn care decisions, especially in soils like ours where pH and texture can strongly influence nutrient availability. That’s why Pastime Lawncare uses Waypoint Analytical Labs. Waypoint Analytical is one of the most reputable and highly regarded commercial soil testing laboratories in the United States, frequently considered the “gold standard” by professional agronomists, lawn care enthusiasts, and commercial farmers. Their results are reliable, accurate, and easy to understand, helping ensure your lawn receives the right treatments based on dependable soil data.
A soil test helps answer simple questions:
-
Does my lawn need fertilizer?
-
Is pH limiting nutrient uptake?
-
Which treatments will actually improve lawn health?
